Friday only, Aeroplan matches the donation of miles to EWB!

11 December, 2009 @ 8:19

Today, for one day only, as a part of the Beyond Miles program, Aeroplan will match all miles donated to Engineers Without Borders! This is an exciting day for EWB - the generous donation of Aeroplan miles helps us offset costs related to travel for our staff and overseas volunteers.

To donate a portion of your Aeroplan miles to EWB Friday, visit: aeroplan.com/donate

The Beyond Miles program was launched in 2006, and since more than 26 million Aeroplan Miles (the equivalent of 225 international flights!) have been donated to EWB.

The matching day for EWB is one way that Aeroplan is going above and beyond to contribute to its charitable partners. “We wanted to do something special with our Beyond Miles partners during this economically challenging year by encouraging our members to join us in providing an extra boost in support to these important Canadian charities,” says Vince Timpano, President of Aeroplan.

EWB uses Aeroplan miles to book hundreds of flights each year for our overseas volunteers and staff, directly enabling us to keep a lean cost structure. In the coming year, as we aim to double the number of overseas volunteers in 2010 to vastly improve rural infrastructure, access to clean water, and farmers’ yields, the generosity of Aeroplan and Aeroplan members will only become more important.

"Our relationship with Aeroplan has really been a true partnership," says George Roter, EWB's co-CEO. "We have volunteers across Canada donating their time. Aeroplan has enabled its members around the world to donate their miles."

Now more than ever is the time to donate a portion of your Aeroplan miles to support the work that EWB is doing overseas! Aeroplan will match each mile you earmark for EWB, essentially doubling the impact of your donation.
