Canadian youth are taking action in 2010

Youth can help rural Africans change their lives through even the simplest actions – such as writing a letter to their Member of Parliament or supporting Fair Trade products. Our latest innovation aims to harness the power of youth to create these lasting changes – and we call it the One Million Actions campaign.

In early January, we kicked the campaign off in a big way in Newfoundland. Over 400 EWB leaders –in St. John's taking part in EWB's National Conference – visited 4,000 students at 10 high schools across the city to emphasize the role they have to play in Africa's future.

Following in class presentations, each of the students sent a postcard to Prime Minister Stephen Harper calling for Canada to improve its aid effectiveness in Africa. In just one day we took 4,000 positive actions - imagine what Canadian youth will accomplish over the course of a year?

Now you can take part by sharing this message with the youth you know - send them an invitation to join the One Million Actions campaign.

With your help, in just one year youth from across country will have taken 1,000,000 actions to improve the world around them.
