Announcing the 2011 EWB 'Get Outside Your World' Youth Contest Winners
What kind of world do you want to live in and what action(s) will you take to get there?
That’s the question for this year's Get Outside Your World Contest held for students from gr. 5 - 12 this year. We received an overwhelming total of 536 entries in total including full class entries for Intermediate and Junior Category. Think about it - 536 youth took the time out of their busy lives to describe the world they envision.
Alyssa - our senior winner, said: "In order to make the world a better place, the actions we must make embody three simple roles of a student, a mentor, and a leader. The first step to global awareness is being a global student. The responsibility of a student is to be inquisitive, aware and open-minded."
We are very excited to announce our winners for this year! Congratulations to our phenomenal winners and runners-up: Alyssa Ramdeo, Amelia Hutchison, Muhammad Qureshi, Mrs. Botterill's Grade 11 Class at Bev Facey Community High School, Emmanuelle Deaton's Grade 10 Class at Lisgar Collegiate, Melissa Low's Grade 7 Class at Kennedy Public School, and Rachel Laurenti's Grade 8 Class at Churchill Community High School.
Congratulations to all winners and thanks to everyone who entered the contest this year and for sharing with us the kind of world you want to live in.
