Thousands Tell The World to Adopt IATI Now
In a 36 hour time period, beginning on Tuesday July 5th, 2,812 people signed EWB's online petition asking governments to make foreign aid more transparent and effective. Those signatures were combined with 2,200 others from around the world, and presented to the co-chairs of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development Working Party on Aid Effectiveness during a major donor conference in Paris, France.

The signed petitions were also presented to Caroline Leclerc, CIDA's Director of Strategic Planning and Performance, and will be delivered to Canada's Minister of International Cooperation and the Minister of Finance.
This petition is the latest in a strategic series of EWB events and actions designed to show the Canadian government that the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI) is not only a good idea, but also an idea with widespread and continually growing support.
Over the next 5 months EWB will continue to be a driving force for IATI in Canada as part of the Make Aid Transparent Campaign, a global collection of 67 organizations that are advocating for the adoption of IATI around the world. Our goal is to have the government sign on to IATI before the High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness in Busan, South Korea on November 29.
This petition has generated the biggest response to-date – thank you! Each and every person who signed, shared or promoted it should be proud to have shared their voice in a chorus of forward thinking citizens.
We encourage you to keep sharing the word, at to continue to help us as we work to ensure the effectiveness of Canada’s aid to people and communities around the world.
