Kristy Minor in Ghana
My name is Kristy Minor and I am a recent graduate from Environmental Engineering at the University of Waterloo. During my time at Waterloo I was heavily involved with the EWB chapter and realized the importance of raising awareness about international development among youth in my community all through my directorship of the High School Outreach Program.
I am now taking on a new challenge as a long term volunteer, working in Tamale, Ghana. My work is in partnership with the Northern Poverty Reduction Program (NORPREP) helping to build their capacity so that they can deliver their programming more effectively. This includes assisting in the development of a management and budgeting system, and a database of information that will facilitate better decision-making when selecting projects in the region.
During my year in Ghana, I hope to achieve a better understanding of Ghana, and Tamale in particular, and to share these experiences back home, continuing to raise awareness among Canadians of development.
