Water and Sanitation in Burkina Faso

Burkina Faso is one of the poorest countries in the world. In spite of ongoing efforts, a lack of safe water, sanitation and hygiene continues to plague the country where 40% of the population lacks access to clean water and 85% to adequate sanitation.

EauVive, a non-governmental organisation, works in rural communities throughout Burkina Faso to create access to safe drinking water, adequate sanitation, and hygiene practices. Their approach to water and sanitation is based on the involvement and participation of community members of all ages. Not only does EauVive help to create access to water and sanitation, but also helps communities take control of their own development.

EWB’s Role:

EWB volunteer Florian Villaume works in partnership with EauVive in Burkina Faso. Florian is focused on developing a diagnostic of the organisation’s activities and impact. Based on the results of the diagnostic, Florian will work with EauVive to strengthen their program delivery for their beneficiaries.
